Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant compiles financial information, processes journal entries, reconciles accounts, prepares reports and analyzes financial data.  They will have strong familiarity of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function and are required to ensure compliance. This individual possesses knowledge of financial accounting systems.  On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.

 

The position analyzes financial data and extracts and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability, generates financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, and results analysis.  Responsible for maintaining accounting control over a group of accounts within a given specialized area, performs monthly, quarterly and year-end close procedures including preparation of schedules, reconciliations and reports related to areas of responsibility.  This position initiates and processes journal entries into various accounts, records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolves differences.  Provides information to management and or appropriate external parties; explains accounting transactions; resolves accounting issues and discrepancies.  Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, CPA/MBA a plus
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills
  • Must have extensive experience working with desktop applications, specifically Excel
  • Experience working with Oracle Applications
