Responsibilities

The Network Administrator is the 1st-level of engineer within the department and supports the internal Altice USA environment.  These efforts include, but are not limited to: diagnosis, and resolution of failures within the network and firewall infrastructure, pro-active testing and failover, documentation of network changes (Visio), day-to-day resolution of Service Now tasks and incidents, both internally and business unit generated, network, firewall, and circuit capacity upgrades as required.  You will also be responsible for network OS and IOS upgrades, vulnerability remediation, packet capture and analysis, implementation of firewall and load balancer changes, implementation of and modifications to the Video Conferencing environment and modifications to the IP Schema.

 

The engineer must be knowledgeable in configuring and troubleshooting multiple IT disciplines including, but not limited to: Routing, switching, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, structured cabling, load-balancing, VPN, Cloud networking, VoIP, IP Addressing, and WAN optimization. You will also need to have a working knowledge of various transport methodologies including, but not limited to: Private Fiber, Broadband, Ethernet-based circuits, T1, and POTS.  Network Engineers must be able to multitask and have the ability to change priorities on short-notice.  Engineers must be professional, well-written and spoken, and be able to give clear and concise reports to management on the status of an outage or project.  Other routine activities include: requirements gathering, basic network design, equipment ordering/procurement, configuration, staging, functional testing, project scheduling, implementation, on-site functional validation, documentation, and support (after-hours and on-call responsibilities are mandatory).

Qualifications

  • BA, EE or Equivalent, Cisco and Checkpoint Education, Equivalent Experience
  • 4+ years of relevant networking experience
  • Good technical knowledge of Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper, Riverbed, Palo Alto, A10, and F5 hardware and software.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting routing, switching, firewall, VPN, wireless, load balancing, etc. technologies
  • Responsible for supporting Altice USA’s internal network and firewall infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Cisco routers, VPN concentrators, and, network switches (L2 and L3)
  • Familiarity with Juniper network switches
  • Familiarity with Riverbed WAN optimization devices
  • Familiarity with Content Switches / Load Balancing Platforms
  • Familiarity with Cisco ASA and Checkpoint firewalls/VPN devices
  • Wireless Delivery Platforms and controllers
  • VoIP (Avaya, Genesys, and Cisco) platforms
  • Experience with Palo Alto
  • Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS)
  • Spectrum/EHealth and IBM Netcool
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure
  • Service Central / Service Now request management
  • Routing Protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP)
  • VoIP configuration and support
  • Network Management Protocols
  • Network Security Protocols (Telnet, SSH, etc.)
  • Router, switch and operating system integration skills.
  • Analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • TCP/IP deployment and management experience.
  • Project management and Documentation skills.
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with co-workers and end users/customers.
  • 24 hour on-call systems support.
  • Some travel is required
